Your ability to make your own money without depending on the government or other people will give you power, freedom and happiness
Many of us have been through so much in life, and we indeed could be legitimate candidates for benefits or charity, however, this takes away our power to lead our lives in the direction that we prefer for them to go.
People who depend on government benefits have no choice but to live in neighbourhoods that may be crime-infested and dangerous to raise their kids in. Also, most government schools are underfunded, and the quality of education is subpar.
Furthermore, if you’re waiting on your relatives or some NGO to support your livelihood, they’ll definitely do it on their own terms.
When I come across people who’re solely dependent on handouts, they often say
- I am not educated enough.
- I can’t find a job.
- Or they simply have a long blame list and a strong sense of entitlement vis a vis others.
As a business coach, I teach my mentees to become resourceful rather than being dependent.

According to Deuteronomy 8:18 of the Bible, God has given us the ability to create wealth.
And in Exodus 35:35, the Bible also states that God has given us skills to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, youtubers, retailers, content creators, coaches, writers, plumbers, mechanics, marketers, tailors, and singers—all of them skilled workers and designers.
In Romans 12:6, the Bible says we have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.
The bottom line is that everyone should try to get better at being resourceful. Using what we have to get what we want is really the key.
We all have something we can use to improve ourselves and make our community and the world a better place.

Some people have ovens in their houses that they only use for special occasions; however, these same ovens can be used to bake cookies to be sold to raise money for other purposes like rent, tuition, and medical bills.
I remember the story of a young black man in the UK called Prince. He began cooking Jamaican delicacies in his mother’s kitchen in a rented house. Instead of keeping his skills to himself, he created social media handles and started to showcase his work.
And before he could blink, he had thousands of followers, and customers are said to line up around his residence in their numbers to purchase his food. Prince said he makes tens of thousands of pounds a day from selling food made in his mom’s kitchen.
